ELAINE D'AURILLAC

Daughter of Deirdre

Elaine is one of the three children of Deirdre who have turned up in this campaign so far (the others being Khortez and Zenobia). This is in a game run by Trish Hart which has been played at AmberCon UK since 1995. I would put up more information on her background and suchlike, but as she is still being played that would be giving away too much to any of the other players who happened along. The main purpose of this page is to put up her diaries, but it also has a description of her, her equipment and her personal shadow.

DESCRIPTION :

Elaine is tall (about 5'10" in height) and beautiful with a slim athletic build and long wavy black hair falling to about halfway down her back, which she usually keeps pulled back in a ponytail. Her skin is pale (she doesn't tan easily) and she has piercing bright blue eyes. She bears a strong resemblance to Deirdre. She is highly trained in combat skills, and although right handed, her martial training allows her to fight equally well with either hand.

Elaine tends to wear clothes which are some combination of blue, green, silver-grey, iron-grey, black, white or gold in colour. For formal occasions she will wear long dresses (sometimes with a cloak); informally she will wear shirts and trousers, usually with boots.

Elaine's Trump, above, is the same as that of the character Laughter, from Wendi Strang-Frost's Outrageous Fortune Game (though personality-wise Elaine is nothing like her). As such it is © 1993-2001 Wendi Strang-Frost, used with permission. One can see the Trump in context, along with lots of other fine artwork, at her site, www.sfpro.com.

CURETANA, HER SWORD

Curetana has two forms, a ring and a sword. The ring is silver, with a diamond set into a disc of white translucent quartz which is carved into intricate floral patterns highlighted with pale gold. As a sword, it a double-edged hand-and-a-half weapon with a white translucent quartz blade with golden floral tracery, a white leather grip, a silver hand guard and a large diamond set into the pommel.

INIGO, HER CAT

Inigo is an average-sized cat whose fur is tabby patterned in dark rust and black coloured fur. His eyes are golden. He is vastly superior to other cats, to the point, of being able to go invisible if he wishes. It is not unknown for her to stroke Inigo while talking of important matters, in a very Blofeld (from the Bond films) manner.

In recent sessions, since Elaine sent him to investigate the cats excavating in the Amber Castle Library and he became one of them, Inigo has developed a number of unusual ... behaviours. These include walking on his hind legs, opposable thumbs, use of Trumps (and possession of a collection of cat-sized Trumps), and most alarmingly the use of a power which bears a lot of resemblance to the Pattern...

HER ARMOUR

The Armour is a suit of close-fitting matte-black plate armour, which looks like it is made of some kind of high-tech material - a cross between medieval plate armour and biker leathers. It is sufficiently non-bulky that it could be concealed under loose-fitting clothes without too many problems (though wearing the helmet would make it kind of obvious), and the joints are all sufficiently tight-fitting that not even a pin can get through (like the best suits of medieval armour). The helmet is of the same black material, and covers all the face and head like that of a medieval knight, with a flaring rear section to protect the neck. The shield-shaped visor (which can be raised) consists of thin vertical bars with the gaps filled by some kind of non-reflective transparent material, as tough as the rest of the suit.

GOTHAM, HER SHADOW

This is a 1980's technology shadow, with many big cities in which Elaine is a major business figure, with access to, certainly, large stocks of weapons at short notice (at least, that's what the other characters know of it).

ELAINE'S DIARIES

Of course, as an Amberite, Elaine has her secrets. Now that the game has finished, they can be revealed.
