Caitlin Cy

Played and depicted by Samantha Beadle

Description:

Caitlin's Trump

Caitlin is slight, with a slim build. She is fairly attractive looking, of average height, and has short cropped black hair. Her teeth are filed to sharp points (which she has to re-do every few years as her teeth regenerate). Clothing-wise she wears the normal gear for Derrisians, that is dark (mostly black and green) plain or lizard skin printed clothing (like combat clothes), good for blending in with their background and thus excellent for hunting. All accessories are made from real skins from any dead reptiles found, (they don't kill the reptiles unless they have too) and from the skins of animals hunted in Jihx's world. There are only two exceptions to this. First, she also wears a vaguely Russian-style long coat and furry hat, both black, when she is anywhere which she considers to be too cold (for Caitlin this includes anywhere cooler than subtropical). Second, there is what looks vaguely like a mayoral chain she wears around her neck, the 'links' of which are actually her twelve throwing knives/broaches. Age seventy.

She has a Trump of a remote hidden cave somewhere on Derris, which was (and is) her hidey-hole.

Initial Statistics :

Psyche : 10 (plus 13 advances)
Strength : Amber (plus 2 advances)
Endurance : 10
Warfare : 53 (plus 7 advances)
Zero Stuff : 0

Special Equipment :

Throwing knives in the form of twelve snake-shaped brooches. They are unbluntable and unbreakable, but other than that have no special properties. Caitlin usually wears them around her neck, like a mayoral chain. It turns out that the snakes which make up Caitlin' broaches bear more than a little resemblance to the coiled Serpent of Chaos design used on the banners of the Courts of Chaos... [Extra Hard : 1, Named and Numbered Quantity * 2 = 2 points total]

Advancement :

Since the game started, Caitlin has, among other things, advanced her Warfare to the point that she is now as fast as Benedict, and improved her Psyche to the point that her mind is more powerful than many of the Elder Amberites. She has also taught herself the power of Advanced Pattern, become somewhat stronger than she was, and acquired a necklace which projects a magical dead zone about its wearer.

Caitlin's necklace is as follows:

NECKLACE : It creates a 'dead zone' about the wearer which prevents most forms of magic from affecting them and anyone else in close proximity. [Mould Shadow Environment - No Magic : 2 = 2 points total]

Upbringing, Origins etc:

Caitlin was brought up on the world of Derris, a hot, tropical, primeval world inhabited by reptiles, insects and limited plantlife as well as the humanoids who are indigenous to the world. The Derris humanoids are proud of the fact that they hunted their own mammalian ancestors to extinction many centuries ago. The native reptiles are considered sacred by the Derrisians and the insects are just not good sport!

The Derrisian way of child rearing is to put all the young into tribal creches. So when young Caitlin turned up as if from nowhere she was just put in with the others. The children stay in these groups until they are old enough to hunt/play sport! and thus join the rest of the Derrisians.

After many years of being able to hunt only each other - and, being cannibals, eat each other - the Derrisians where delighted to find a portal to the world of Ahnel in an ancient ruin. The Derrisians poured through the portal and set about the Ahnel population, animal and humanoid, with glee.

Caitlin was too young to join the initial hunting parties. When she was old enough (10 years by Derrisian tradition) she refused to go - already realising that she was different from those around her. However when the Ahnellian army, led by Jihx, came through the portal in a surprise attack she leapt to the defence of her people. Dozens of Ahnellian attackers where slaughtered by her death-dealing powers until she met Jihx himself.

The two fought for days, back and forth across the battlefield, until they realised that they where too evenly matched (the Ahnellian army had fled by that time). Basically, Caitlin had the edge in speed and skill, but Jihx was stronger and his armour was much tougher, so Caitlin hit him a lot to little effect, and got out of his grappling attempts by sheer speed. Jihx also seemed to get a lot more lucky breaks than Caitlin, for some reason...

Caitlin and Jihx sat down on the decimated plain and started to talk. They conceived a truce that would end the war. Faced with the awesome powers of the two godlike offspring of each of their worlds, the Derrisian and Ahnellian populations had no choice but accept. The Derrisians would be given strictly limited hunting rights to the animals (not humans!) of Ahnel and the two races would exchange goods and technology through the portal.

Caitlin and Jihx became the power behind the thrones of their worlds - Jihx feels that the people of their worlds should be able to look after themselves (but keeps an eye open just in case Caitlin feels like interfering again! - not that she would but he doesn't know that!), and Caitlin doesn't really care what they do any more - not that she really cared that much in the first place.

Jihx and Caitlins relationship has remained entirely platonic - in fact occasionally down right icy. Jihx can never really forget the fighting and Caitlin is just too cool to care much (plus those Ahnellian's really look stupid in her opinion).

Caitlin and Jihx where very happy for the next sixty years - lording over their united populations - then they got bored - then very bored - then very very bored indeed...
