Late December 1994

26/12/94 :

French anti-terrorist forces storm a hijacked airliner in Marseilles, with the aid of the superhuman Fleur de Lis. All four armed Islamic fundamentalist hijackers are taken alive, mainly due to the efforts of Fleur de Lis.

The first of many bank raids by Viper agents occur in London. At the same time, Viper teams attack what are later found to be criminal bases of operation around London.


27/12/94 :

On the first full moon after the winter solstice, the Guardians foil a Demon ritual being performed in Minneapolis. In the process, the mage Amaryllis suffers some kind of magical accident, and is carried away, apparently in a coma.


29/12/94 :

The privatisation of British Coal is completed.


31/12/94 :

Despite the efforts of Glasnost to mediate, at the special request of former President Gorbachev, Russian forces launch a full-scale offensive against Grozny, capital of Chechnya. The USA and France criticise Russia for attacking Chechen civilians. The ex-Soviet superhuman the Peoples Commando is seen fighting with the rebels. Fighting continues until the present time.


January 1995

1/1/95 :

The mass murderer Frederick West hangs himself in prison.


2-4/1/95 :

Clashes between Israelis and Palestinians on the West Bank threaten the Arab-Israeli peace process.


3/1/95 :

Three convicts escape from Parkhurst prison in what is widely viewed as an embarrassment to the Tories.


5/1/95 :

The US government begins to forcibly repatriate Haitian refugees.


6/1/95 :

Dr Renard Jack, a neurologist, is admitted to Barts Hospital with the only known case of what becomes known as Ultra-Acute Retributive Necritis (UARN), his flesh slowly rotting from him. As it becomes obvious that no treatment is slowing the UARN, friend and colleague, Professor Napoleon Barker, works frantically to build a life support system, to save his brain, if nothing else, from the disease. Just before the UARN reaches it, the brain of Dr Renard Jack is transplanted into the Professor Barker's mobile life support system.


8/1/95 :

The police recapture the convicts who escaped from Parkhurst prison on the 3rd.


9/1/95 :

Several (former) East German politicians charged in connection with the deaths of Germans fleeing from East to West during the Cold War.


14/1/95 :

Amaryllis of the Guardians comes out of her coma, apparently none the worse for wear.


16/1/95 :

British troops cease daylight patrols in Belfast.


17/1/95 :

An earthquake of 7.2 on the Richter scale strikes Kobe, in Japan. More than 5000 people die, and more the 26,000 are injured. Within an hour of the disaster, several Japanese superhumans, including Battletank and Rising Sun, are on the scene, and assist greatly.


18/1/95 :

An amnesty on thousands of South African officials for crimes committed during apartheid is declared invalid.


19/1/95 :

The Presidential Palace in Grozny falls to Russian forces.


20/1/95 :

As Dr Renard Jack learns to use his hew mobile life support system, which Professor Barker is constantly modifying and improving, he also develops some kind of psychic powers, which he also begins to master.


22/1/95 :

Two Palestinian suicide bombers kill nineteen Israelis at a checkpoint. One of the bombers survives, having gained superpowers, and flees in the confusion.


21/1/95 :

The trial of OJ Simpson begins.


22/1/95 :

The right-wing New Britain Party begins campaigning in the poorer areas of East London, with a glare of publicity.


24/1/95 :

The string of Viper bank raids in London stops as suddenly as it began.


28/1/95 :

An agreement for mutual trade and defence is signed between India and Greater Annam.


30/1/95 :

The UN authorises the deployment of peacekeeping forces to take over from US troops in Haiti.

A car bomb outside the main police station in Algiers kills 42 and wounds 286.


31/1/95 :

The US provides Mexico a $20 billion loan to help stabilise the Mexican peso.


February 1995

1/2/95 :

An animal rights activist dies under the wheels of a calf-carrying lorry at Coventry airport.

Details of a British-Irish agreement to achieve peace in Northern Ireland are published.

Floods ravage northern Europe


2/2/95 :

An emergency summit affirms the commitment of several Middle Eastern nations to the peace process. Israel and the PLO agree to resume talks.


4/2/95 :

Superhumans from the Indian Checkmate organisation apprehend a number of Kashmiri rebels.


5/2/95 :

A garden shed disappears in Teddington, south London, with all its contents left behind, and intact.
