OVERMAN 2335

Alternative Space Combat Rules

Combat is carried out on the pilot or weapons operators Phases in normal 12-second Turns in Dex order.

The vessels are divided into four 90 degree quadrants (usually about the front-to-back line), with steerable weapons divided between them according to the design of the ship. Normally only two quadrants can be brought to bear on a given target at once (those facing it).

Space Combat mainly uses Combat Pilot skill. If the skill roll is made, each +1 the roll is made by can be used in the following ways:

The pluses from the Combat Pilot skill roll are distributed after the roll is made. If the roll is failed then the amount it is failed by is subtracted from the vessels DCV.

Missiles of all types have a DCV equal to the OCV of the firer, for purposes of attempts to shoot them down with lasers, railguns etc rather than letting missile deflection systems handle them.

Some kind of casualty determination system is also needed; at present casualty determination is done by GM fiat only...
