CIRCAEA ACACIA JUSTICIA

DESCRIPTION

Circaea's Trump, by Bryan Talbot

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Circaea is tall, thin and beautiful with waist-length silver-white hair, pale skin and pale blue eyes. She dresses as appropriate for the situation and has huge wardrobes of clothes and so on in Ensilarum, but she does always wear a variety of items of jewellery - broaches, pendants and rings - mainly of gold and rubies. However, her bearing is normally regal and her back is always straight.

In terms of personality she is fairly pleasant and easy-going, quite mellow - certainly a lot more so than when she first left Verantium, the shadow in which she was raised. She takes her duties seriously, but because of how she came to the throne and the general society of Emsilarum she is not too bothered by combat and such either, and does not consider herself above the common herd or the nobility - she got where she is due to ability, and anyone else could have done the same.

GODLY FORMS

Since becoming the Goddess of the Quest for Knowledge, Circaea has acquired two new forms, the Divine and the Iconic. These are described below.

Divine Form

Her Divine form appears to be a taller, thinner version of her normal human form with somewhat longer fingers than it. It seems to be somewhat older than her normal form, and has hair which is pure iridescent metallic silver rather than the silver-white of her human form. In this form she wears a long white formal-seeming double-breasted lab coat over white trousers and knee-high boots. On her hands are what seem to be large protective gauntlets of some kind, and on her head is a set of 'steampunk' protective goggles (quite large and clunky-seeming, with several short 'antennas', magnifying lenses, lenses on little jointed arms and so on, all in silver and crystal) which are worn either over her eyes or up on her forehead. In one hand this form holds a notebook.

Iconic Form

Circaea's Iconic form is a human-shaped mesh of iridescent cobwebs holding within it a large number of royal blue facetted cut crystals in a variety of shapes, with larger near-spherical crystals for eyes, and crystal fingertips. The cobwebs also form clothing and hair, but do not make a solid form; light and air move through the cobwebs without any hindrance. The long threads of cobweb which make up the hair of this form move as if blowing in an un-felt wind. They constantly grow tiny crystals at their tips, which slowly move up the length of the hair, gradually growing as they do so, until the crystals enter the body and become one more crystal in the mesh.

The crystals represent items of knowledge; the cobwebs linking them the web of links between items of knowledge that binds it all together. The crystals appearing at the tips of the hair and moving along them represent new knowledge being acquired and linked into the whole, while the hair itself also represents the links from the known out into the unknown, along which new knowledge may be found and linked into the whole.

This form is more resistant to damage, resistant to hostile environments and so on, and can see all around itself, around corners and whatever through the crystals in its hair.

PERSONAL COLOURS AND SYMBOL

Circaea's personal colours are black, red and white. These are combined in her personal symbol, which is a red circle with an inscribed downward-pointing black equilateral triangle inside which is an inscribed white circle with a black dot in the centre, representing the sky, the mesa, the people and the monarch of shadow Ensilarum, respectively. This is very similar to the flag of Ensilarum, but in her personal colours rather than those of the shadow (which are royal blue, iron-black, gold and black respectively).

OTHER THINGS

Circaea has stated (and demonstrated) that she is a Trump Artist, and knows something of Magic.

Circaea's Trump backgrounds are all the same, and again are a version of the flag of shadow Ensilarum in a third colour scheme.
