MULTIMAN


This power is actually two related powers, both variants of Shapeshifting, but in which the form of the changes that can be made are considerably different to those given by 'normal' shapeshifting. Neither power is at all justified by any of the Amber books, but I think they might work in an Amber game.

The two forms of the power are as follows:


Note that these powers have not, as yet, been play-tested, so I have no idea how balanced, or otherwise, they may actually be.


MULTIMAN I

Cost : 35 Points, or one third of the total points upon which characters are built

PRE-REQUISITES : None.

Rather than having full control over their form, or various forms which are basically the same other than in appearance (as with 'normal' shapeshifting), the person with this power can physically change between three separate people, at least one of the opposite sex, all of whom can be very different in terms of personality, statistics, skills, powers and even memories. They can switch between these forms either consciously or when stressed, taking an amount of time roughly the same as for a normal shapeshifter to switch between their Human, Avatar and Demon forms. The shift includes clothing and any personal items for which points have been paid by a form and is basically 'Shapeshift Multiple Personality Disorder'.

Each form of the Multiman is built on the same number of points, that is [Base Character Points - cost of the Multiman power] but each one can have different statistics, knowledge and powers beyond that. However, if one form has Pattern or Logrus then all forms will have it. Likewise, if all forms buy an item it will remain with them through the change between forms.

The power does not include any healing ability. That is, injuries transfer between forms.

Advancement points are applied equally to all the forms of the Multiman at once, so all of them advance at the same rate and by the same amount. However, they only get two thirds of the Advancement Points of a non-Multiman.


MULTIMAN II

Cost : 50 Points, or one half of the total points upon which characters are built

PRE-REQUISITES : None.

Another variant of shapeshifting. The person with the power is capable of shifting around the points in their statistics at will and at need (Psyche, Strength, Endurance and Warfare, but not Stuff), taking about as long to do so as a 'normal' shapeshifter takes to shift between their Human, Avatar and Demon forms. Items and any powers or skills stay the same throughout the change and the personality of the Multiman does not change, only their abilities (unlike Multiman I, above). No statistic may be dropped below Amber ranked when using this power.

The appearance of the person with this power will change slightly as their statistics change. Increasing Strength will cause them to become more muscular; raising Warfare makes them more athletic, raising Endurance increases chest size, and so on.

The power does not include any healing ability. That is, injuries transfer between forms.

For a Multiman of this type, Advancement of statistics costs twice as much as for a non-Multiman.
