In a shadow of unknown name, by the ashes of Conner and Nemain. I attend to my spells and items, while Jihx rains fire into the church for the demise of his children. I leave some skeletons behind, to spread their own word of god. Live forever. Never die. Worship god. Jihx's enthusiasm for butchery is most entertaining. I am feeling much refreshed. We repeat the Mamaxia experiment. Jihx finds a murderer. I draw him, Jihx Trumps him, I kill him. Maybe dropping him on his head wasn't strictly necessary, but I feel strangely elated here. Etienne interferes. Jihx dives through the Trump, chasing the soul. We try again. The soul had not reached its destination. Jihx's mind is stronger than mine. And I doubt I could hold Caitlin off even defending myself to the best of my ability. I think it works. We make a gate to hell. Jihx enters.... ... and dies. His body, lifeless to the ground. Yet something passed through the gate, I am sure. In Amber I can't believe it failed so completely. The gate was perfect, although hard to sustain. Why did it fail? Because the Trump was not a full one? Why? I require more experiments. Failed. WHY? Etienne has opened a gate of her own. Jihx is there! It didn't fail after all! I knew it would work! But how do I get him back? Can he simply walk through the gate? Into his body? Apparently not. What is Arun doing to the body? Jihx steps out. Into the air - a presence.... fizzling away.... Dives into the body, animated by Arun. It works! I am... actually... pleased! I must examine Arun's power more closely. He says they are all there - Conner, Nemain, Gerard. A gate. A river. A boatman. A minotaur. Judgement. Gerard trapped in ice. - The ninth circle? - Cocytus? -Traitors. - Caina - Traitors to kin?! Connor & Nemain - a burning desert. - The seventh circle. - The violent. - The violent against god, nature and art. Etienne, of course, knows this place well. I throw an animal through. It lives. I pull it back. It still lives. I find a boy and try the same. He survives. Unfortunately, he escapes on the other side, and the Trump link to him fails. But Etienne runs in after him, follows, loses him and returns through the gate, apparently unharmed. I have a strong urge to enter this hell and smash the place. I feel God's presence in there. We enter the gate. Jihx is agitated. Magic is weird. It may or may not work. I cannot tell! We try the Trump gates again, from inside Etienne's gate. It works. Jihx pulls them through, but their bodies remain behind; they begin to fizzle away. Etienne traps one of them - Nemain - with a spell. The other, Conner, is forced to return. So we need bodies for them. Outside, God arrives. God is angry. We leave in a hurry. God is not mocked. So he claims. The gate to hell slams behind us. Of course, none of this solves the problem. |
