THE GUARDIANS
Original Members :
- Sgt. Strike
- Superpatriot
- Liberty Belle (female, sonic powers)
- plus others...
Current Members :
- Strike (male, the original Sgt. Strike from W.W.II; conservative, right-wing views; mid-western; honourable; dislikes modern culture with its "decline in morality and standards" etc.; wears a black Marine Corps uniform with silver trim and no insignia but a small US flag on the left breast, high black boots, and black gloves; his hair is silver-white in a severe flat-top cut; otherwise he appears to be in his early 20's, as opposed to his real age of over 80)
- Shade (the original, from the 1930's; a mystery man who has been fighting crime for over 60 years; his powers and identity are still unknown to the world at large; he is tall, dark, ominous and menacing)
- Magus (a mage; an old man in his 60s, still fit and active; he has an imposing presence, piercing grey eyes, neatly trimmed grey hair and beard and wears dark robes; he is quiet and observant with a wide range of magical skills and powers)
- Amaryllis (originally a mage, the protege of Magus, a hispanic girl of natural high magical potential from the inner city who was kidnapped by Demon for brainwashing, and rescued by the Guardians, joining them as Magus' protege; he gave her an amulet to focus and control her powers until she came into them fully; when it was recently shattered during a DEMON kidnap attempt she went comatose, them awakened totally invulnerable; has a bit of an attitude problem)
- Jeager (the ultimate hunter, or so he is advertised; of German-Native American descent; tall, muscular, long blonde hair in ponytail, swarthy-skined, blue eyes; huge tracking skill; very stealthy; strong and fast; very perceptive; a fast runner - faster than any normal; doesn't sleep; an incredibly good shot, both close up and at range; wears an armoured costume and carries crossbows and knives; he is a master of traps and improvised weapons; smokes)
- Proteus (a shapeshifter; an orphan raised in a circus dominated by a black magician, which wandered the USA feeding on the dreams of innocents; he was a normal child, and ran away as soon as he could, but the mage tracked him down to bring him back, and in the ensuing fight he was doused in some kind of molten plastic, into which his mind was transferred as his body died, perhaps as a side effect of all the magic being used; he was captured by the mage and returned to the circus, where he was a freak - due to his total control over his plastic body and huge resistance to damage - and occasional unwilling enforcer for the controlling mage; he was rescued by Shade and Magus, who destroyed the circus, although the mage escaped; he is quiet, moody, and something of a loner, but is also an inveterate prankster)
- Tigress (a tiger-woman; female, tall and strong with a muscular athletic build, feline teeth and retractile finger and toetip claws; she has short fur-like hair in a tigers colour and pattern, catlike green eyes with vertical slit pupils, and a fully carnivorous diet; she regenerates and has feline senses, agility and ferocity; out of combat she is fairly carefree, living for the moment; her costume is a black gold-edged belted tabard over an orange bodysuit, with black toesless soft boots and black fingerless gloves, both to keep her claws free; she was a zoologist working in south-east Asia who was mauled by a tiger which was heavily contaminated with residue from chemical weapons, she shot the tiger but lay in contaminated blood and mud until she was rescued, after which she gradually mutated into her current form)
- Salamander (an ex-fireman, male, partly cyborged after being horribly burned in an accident, inside power armour derived from a set of experimental fire-fighing power armour; it is quite big and clunky, with a large backpack, and coloured fire engine red; it gives the user fire creation and suppression powers, effective immunity to fire, flight via jets, spotlights, is fully heat and atmosphere sealed, has strength boosts, and has enhanced and protected sensory systems)
Based in Cincinnati, where they have a purpose-built base facility, with support staff etc. They travel about in the "G-Jet", a specially designed radar-invisible aircraft. Considerable marketting of Guardians toys and other spin-offs augments their income from their government service...
