Born Emily Armitage in a village near Canterbury in southern England, in 1859, she always wanted a career on the stage and went to London to get it. She was very good, and became a successful music hall performer by the age of twenty, in the 1880's and early 1890's.
At the same time she was pursuing a second career as a thief and cat-burglar using the Overman powers she developed in 1883, and getting reasonably rich.
In 1894, starting to realise that she wasn't ageing, and getting bored with London anyway, she moved to the USA where she became Anne Garner, another successful music hall star who performed all over the USA from 1896 to 1904, carrying on her criminal career at the same time. During this time she was ambushed by the law and although she escaped she was shot and injured. This gave her a hatred of guns which she retains to this day. By this time she was very rich, and had fully realised that she wasn't getting any older.
In 1905 she resurfaced as Maggie Miller, one of the first white Dixieland musicians, and continued in this identity until about 1920. This was one of her most scandalous "incarnations" and she worked with, and had affairs with a number of black musicians. In 1922 she stole the Mona Lisa from the Louvre, just for fun and the challenge, returning it unharmed and undetected one week later.
In 1924 she returned to England as Una Peterson, becoming involved in music hall again for a while, then moving into films where she was very successful, then going back to the stage with songs of her own, meeting great critical acclaim in both the UK, and when she toured the US in 1932 and later in 1938. During this period she collaborated with George Gershwin on several projects, after meeting him in 1932.
In 1939, about two years after Gershwins death, and just after the start of WWIII, she faked her own death at the apparent age of about 54, reappearing in early 1940 as Emma Martins, an eighteen year old actress, an orphan from a place whose records were all destroyed by bombing. She played on the stage and screen throughout the war, going from bit player to star by the end of the war. She moved to the USA and continued as a star until about 1950 when she was forced to retire into seclusion after an encounter with HUAC and Senator McCarthey.
In 1951 she reappeared as Jane Clarke, an eighteen year old sociology student at NYU. Completing this in 1954 she then went to UCLA and did a music degree under the name of Eleanor McLoughlin from 1955 to 1958. Seeing the new Rock and Roll scene which was then emerging she became involved with it while at UCLA then carried on with it as lead singer of The Champions, a fairly successful Rock and Roll band. This continued until 1967 when she went on a pilgrimage to an Indian guru until late 1968.
She then returned to the UK under the name of Ursula Norton, becoming a successful actress on stage and screen up to her retirement, aged about 40, in 1985. In 1986 she reappeared in the US as the nineteen year old singer Claire Firaux, and has been in this "incarnation" ever since. Claire Firaux is stylistically like a soulful combination of Tina Turner and the Bangles, and is very popular.
She has been a number of big names in most types of non-classical music, theatre and films at one time or another. She has also been a moderately successful writer and sociologist, and a great songwriter. Since the 1920's she has always written her own songs and arranged her own performances. She much prefers performing in front of an audience to on screen or record. All her "incarnations" have looked and acted entirely different due to her disguise and acting skills (she always insists on doing her own makeup etc. to avoid avoid someone penetrating her disguise). All "incarnations" take long holidays anonymously to commit crimes on an irregular basis. These days Jade only does jobs on a contract basis, hired by word on the street, for her own pleasure. She will not steal government or industrial items, and generally prefers object d'art.
She generally has a career for two to twenty years (depending on how she enjoys it) then retires into seclusion or fakes her own death before taking a long (one to two years) holiday then rebuilding a new life and persona and starting again. She has adjusted well to the idea of living forever. She was never one to worry too much about the past, and now always lives life to the full, loving life and living. She has many lovers, but these days never gets into deep relationships with any of them as her experiences from her younger days have taught her that this only brings pain in the long term as they age and she doesn't. She likes fast cars, and owns a lot of them. While being Ursula Norton, she became increasingly conscious of the man is doing to the environment, so as both Ursula Norton and Claire Firaux she has campaigned strongly on Green issues. She has also taken an interest in Animal Rights, but in general considers people more important than animals so only really gets involved if the environment is put in danger by it. She is always very vehement. Part of her motivation for this is that while most people will be dead by the time major damage is done to the Earth's environment, she won't be, and would rather not have to live through it at all.
She is now (and has been for decades) immensely rich. She has over one billion dollars stored in many bank accounts under many names in all parts of the world. Much of the interest from the banked parts of her fortune goes to environmental and human rights groups (tens of millions of dollars a year). She has safe houses and equipment caches in most of the worlds major cities, and several homes under various names in the USA, Britain, France and Italy. She has apartments in London, Paris, Rome, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, San Francisco and Delhi. All her homes are owned by various "eccentric millionaires" and are kept fully maintained while she is not there. Every 15 to 25 years they are sold to herself through a web of front companies (i.e. the name of the owner changes, but little else does). She also owns several major recording companies in the same way.
Jade's powers consist of the ability to channel energy into flight, a force field, a force wall, an entangle, and an energy blast.
While committing crimes she will generally only use her EB on inanimate objects or people who shoot at her. If seen she will tend to use her force wall and entangle to hold people off while she escapes; she has her force field up all the time anyway. Her Jade costume, in order to help disguise her appearance, includes a wig with strangely styled glossy black hair as part of the mask.
