The Place : The Earth, but an Earth where superhumans first appeared in the early 1880's, and since then have had a great effect on the world, in almost every field of human endeavour. This is the setting I created for a Champions face-to-face roleplaying game I ran from 1990 to 1995. For my sins, the original 1880's game was inspired by the Two Ronnies series-within-a-series 'The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town'.

The main difference between this world and those depicted in most comic books is that in this world the presence of various super-genius inventor types has actually had some kind of effect on the world as a whole, in particular on its level of technology.

Originally set in New York, over the course of time the game expanded in scope until it covered the whole world, and even a few other dimensions. However, there were a number of limits imposed on what characters were allowed. Magic exists, but is purely Divine or Demonic in nature and as such not available to player characters in either form. There are no space aliens, hidden civilisations on or near the Earth, faster than light travel, time travel or (widely known) contact with other dimensions. Although this did limit the game a little, I feel it did not significantly detract from its diversity or scope.

Vehicles of the Overman 1994 World

Because of the, overall, considerably more advanced level of technology in the Overman 1994 world compared to the real world, many of their vehicles are also much more advanced. The first section divides them by nation, organisation or use, and shows what they actually look like, while the second and third sections give Champions statistics of both the vehicles shown in the first section, and a number of others:
