Cair Briga (Fall-Fighting)

A New Hero System Martial Art
For the Overman 2335 Setting


One of several martial arts developed in the late 21st century for use in space, Cair Briga (from 'Fall Fighting' in Portuguese) is the most widespread.

Cair Briga developed from a variety of forms used by SAU and Indonesian spacers, as much as anything else from the need to keep fit in zero-G, and for use in fights in zero-G spaceport bars. It was designed to be useable primarily in zero gravity and as such requires Acrobatics skill to be known before its moves can be learnt. With superhumans becoming widespread, and especially after the coming of the Hounds, moves useable primarily by superhumans (such as the Passing Strike) were developed and added to the art, leading to its diversification into a number of sub-styles, including some designed specifically for use by superhumans.

Because of its origins in zero gravity space a number of wrestling-derived grabbing moves are part of the style (allowing practitioners to do damage to their opponents without the force of their own blows making them fly about in zero-G). The Takedown move, when successfully used in zero-G, indicates that the target is tumbling out of control, at least until they recover.
