Pattern Swords

There appear to be five Pattern Swords in The Last Enemy game, one for each of the Patterns of Amber (the Primal Pattern and the Patterns of Amber, Rebma, Tir-Na Nog'th and Ht'gon An-Rit). They are all finely crafted weapons which are very sharp, so sharp that they can cut through nearly anything. They also seem to cause those of the blood of Chaos to begin burning away even before they are dead.

There is some kind of link between the Pattern swords which means that if someone with Advanced Pattern radiates Pattern energy at one Pattern sword it will resonate, and that resonance will then cause the other Pattern swords to resonate in response. This sympathetic resonance can be detected from a very long way away across shadow, and allows the direction to a each resonating sword to be determined.

The five swords are:

• CHRYSANTHIR
  The Pattern blade of Amber's Pattern, it is a long silvery sabre with red-gold tracery (in the form of a slice through Amber's Pattern) on the blade. This sword originally belonged to Eric, but it has since been claimed by his son, Prince Ibrahim. It allows its wielder, when in Amber, to seek out specific individuals with a Pattern imprint by a resonance effect similar to that between Pattern swords.

• GREYSWANDIR
  The Pattern blade of Tir-Na Nog'th's Pattern. It is a sabre, similar to Chrysanthir, but heavier and not quite as long with silver Pattern-tracery on the blade. Allegedly forged by Dworkin on the steps atop Kolvir which lead up to Tir-Na Nog'th, it allows interaction and communication with the ghosts in Tir-Na Nog'th. This sword belongs to Corwin.

• JACINTHA
  The Pattern blade of Ht'gon An-Rit's Pattern, it is a light, narrow-bladed sabre (a 'ladies's sabre') with an elaborate filigree of golden Pattern-tracery on the blade. Jacintha originally had the power to affect the emotional ambience in Forest Arden around the Ht'gon An-Rit Pattern (and only there). However, this power was lost with the destruction of the Ht'gon An-Rit Pattern. This Pattern sword belonged to Bleys, but it was destroyed after his death in 119 PPF when his son, Damien, threw it into the Abyss.

• VIGILANT
  The Pattern blade of Rebma's Pattern. It is a sword with a straight, narrow two-edged blade which is of silver metal with a hint of green and silvery-blue Pattern tracery. It has a silver basket hilt, a bottle-green leather grip and a large perfect faceted diamond in the pommel. It belongs to Llewella. Touching the sword to the mirrors in Rebma allows the wielder to use them as scrying devices to look into the equivalent places in Amber.

• GALENDRATH
  The Pattern blade of the Primal Pattern, it is a large bastard sword with a pinkish-blue Pattern tracery on the blade. Originally Oberon's it was 'borrowed' by his son Osric shortly before the sealing of the Patterns into the Ordnung's universe and has belonged to him ever since. It has the powers of all the other Pattern blades.
