Nazi society is divided into essentially three levels, all of which speak German as their native tongue. None of the more obvious racial minorities are to be found anywhere in the Reich. Membership in the Hitler Youth Movement is mandatory for all members of society from pre-school until they reach adulthood in a (fairly successful) attempt to instill loyalty to the state in all the people of the.Reich.
At the bottom of society are the proles. They form the bulk of the population and are the most uneducated, poor and downtrodden. They work long hours for the state at menial jobs for subsistence pay. The vast majority of them live in the squalid lower levels of the many arcologies which dot the face of the planets with huge restrictions placed on movement away from their home areas. For a prole medical treatment is very hard to maintain, resulting in a them having, on average, a very short lifespan. The prole levels of arcologies are heavily monitored by security systems but in many areas these have been disabled and apathy or sheer workload has left them un-repaired. Many of these unmonitored areas are never entered by the security forces in less than squad strength and form enclaves for organised crime or the various resistance organisations. Gangs of youths effectively rule many areas (many of these are infiltrated by the security forces) enforcing their rule using illegal weapons or cyberware and running the incredibly widespread black market. For a prole almost any crime carries a death penalty, so once they have committed any crime many proles carry on to more extreme things with little urging - many people like this form combat squads for the various resistance groups. Huge riots sometimes sweep the prole areas for trivial, or no, reason. These are always brutally suppressed. Proles are also at risk of being press-ganged en masse into labour battalions, for work which can be done more cheaply by expandable humans than (for example) robots. Most proles are dirty, wearing unkempt drab clothing and with a fairly furtive, haunted expression on their faces.
Above the proles there is a very small middle class. They form the bulk of the independent specialised technicians, computer programmers and starship pilots which the ruling elite find useful to have around despite their being unattached to the Nazis themselves. However, they are, in general monitored fairly heavily by the SS. Although fairly clean and well-dressed, most of the middle class, like the proles, act furtively as they know they are being watched by the Gestapo.
At the top of the hierarchy are the Nazi elite - the actual members of the National Socialist Party. These people rule the whole Nazi empire, and as such live in luxury with complete medical care and treatment. Almost everybody in the elite are handsome and Aryan in appearance, whether of Aryan stock or not, cosmetic surgery being widely used for this purpose. Some of the elite also have cosmetic cyberware implanted in themselves, but this is not nearly as common as it is in the Japanese empire. The very top levels of the elite have been genetically improving themselves since the 2060's. These people now have a longer lifespan, no appendix, increased mental and physical abilities and an increased resistance to most forms of cancer and disease. A very few children of the elite, born since 2116, have minor psionic powers, although most of these are also considered half-mad by others in the elite. For decades it has been fashionable for women of the Nazi elite to be interested in the occult (although the Nazis themselves no longer are), and the Horbigger Institute, an organisation which seeks to prove the reality of many occult beliefs panders to the interests of these women. It is possible for members of the lower classes to rise into the elite for some exceptional service to the Reich, but this is rare. Even more rare, although it has happened, is the demotion of a person or family to the lower orders (any family to which this happens tends not to last very long). A member of the elite can do anything he or she likes to a member of the lower orders, with no restrictions or censure, and the only crime for which an elite person can be executed is treason (other crimes in general involve merely loss of position or prestige). Unsurprisingly members of the elite tend to be cruel, cold and arrogant, although there are exceptions to this rule, and they wear sumptuous high-quality clothing in almost any colour or style.
Although nominally only allies of Germany these nations are in fact parts of the German empire and ruled from Berlin. For this reason, although Italian, Portuguese or Spanish are their official languages almost everybody also speaks German very well. Needless to say the societies of these countries are effectively identical to those of the German-speaking parts of the empire.
Again like the Germans, Japanese society is divided into three levels, for all of whom Japanese is the native language. Unlike Germany, however, society includes people of all racial types, none of whom are particularly discriminated against for their racial origin. The Japanese government consists of a network of interlocking industrial complexes, the Zaibutsu's, which run the country under an Emperor who is little more than a figurehead.
Japanese society is very similar to that of the Reich, with the vast majority of the people being downtrodden proles. The Japanese middle class, although it does exist, is even smaller than that in the Reich as most technical people form the lower echelons of the elite. The Japanese elite live much like the Nazi elite, but can be of any racial type (unlike the Nazi elite). However, they tend to be more pragmatic and have no interest in the occult. Many of the Japanese elite have cosmetic cyber-enhancements which indicate their social status. Like the Nazi elite it is possible for families to be promoted to or demoted from the Japanese elite.
