Session 2.9 Index Session 2.11
Everyone gets into position for the attack on the base. Blitz and Noesis at the south tunnel. Servo and Cronos at the northern one and Avenger and Naomi at the Carmarlite Street tunnel. STOP have agents at all three entrances. Truth together with John Doe as her utility belt heads for the lab with the plague canister. Unfortunately she comes out in the nearby coffee lounge and is spotted by two Viper agents, who sound the base alarms.
On hearing the alarms everyone attacks the base.
Truth re-enters the base (this time in the lab). She drops to the floor behind a bench. The occupants of the room, a man and a woman in lab coats reach into desk drawers for guns. Truth solidifies and removes her belt. John Doe transforms from the belt into a bunch of sticks of dynamite with a timer. Truth picks up the bundle and puts it on the bench. The two scientists look very scared. Truth gets the guns away from both scientists. The woman says to stop the bomb or everyone will die. Truth replies that they must destroy the contents of the canister before the bomb is stopped. Then Truth mind controls the woman and she is easily convinced to destroy the virus despite protests by the other man. The woman flicks open a panel on the nearby console and starts typing in the code.
At the southern tunnel Blitz blasts open the door and flies in followed by Noesis. Noesis uses his telekinesis to grab at the guns of the Viper agents waiting there. The STOP agents accompanying them throw grenades into the gun slits on either side of the room. Unfortunately Blitz's aim is rather off as usual and misses attacks on the Viper men. The Viper men get control of the guns from Noesis and fire. Noesis is hit. The fight goes on for some time until Blitz blasts the next door and flies on through followed by Noesis.
At the northern tunnel Servo rips the door off its hinges and throws it at the waiting Viper agents. Servo and the STOP men throw grenades through the gun slits. Cronos rushes to the next door and rusts the door lock easily opening it. Cronos opens the door and enters the base and makes directly for the airlocks surrounding the lab area.
Cronos reaches the airlock and presses the button but nothing happens. Suddenly he hears a catlike growl behind him and he is badly slashed down his back. When he turns he sees a 6'8" catman, with a mane, yellow eyes and long claws on both hands and feet. Cronos flees from Carnivore southwards.
Back in the lab the woman continues typing in the code, Truth desolidifies and then suddenly the two guards from the coffee lounge barge into the lab. They fire sonic guns at Truth but the wave passes through her and the male scientist is hit and falls unconscious. The woman screams out "don't fire there's dynamite!".
Servo finishes in the guard room and follows Cronos into the base, he is intercepted by Carnivore and a bloody fight ensures. Servo tasers Carnivore, and is in turn slashed. Cronos has healed himself and goes to assist Servo. Cronos misses with his attack and destroys part of the floor. Servo is again slashed and part of his armour locks up his left arm, Servo starts bleeding heavily. Cronos launches another attack and succeeds, Carnivore screams in pain, Servo has managed to wind up a haymaker and hits the catman so hard that he hits the ceiling before falling to the floor unconscious (on top of Servo) and bleeding heavily.
In the lab one of the guards goes for the dynamite, John Doe transforms and hits the guard into unconsciousness. Truth harasses the other guard until John Doe also knocks him out. The male scientist wakes up and Truth covers him with the blasters she removed from the two scientists. The woman finishes the code and a purple glow covers the canister and a 20 second timer count down starts. Noises of more Viper agents approaching through the nearby stores are heard. John Doe charges at the doors splitting the hinges and forcing the doors the wrong way knocking both the Viper men out. John Doe drags the bodies into the lab.
At the southern tunnel Blitz and Noesis go to the bosses rooms, on entering the main area. They see a large swastika flag on the wall. Blitz hesitates on seeing it.
Servo binds Carnivore in a metal egg and heals his main wounds, then heals himself. Cronos goes back to the airlock and starts trying to find the door code for the keypad there. Servo goes to the other airlock and starts to disassemble the keypad there to open the door (which seems to be locked).
In the lab John Doe decides to transform into a dome covering the canister in case something goes wrong. The woman who is hiding under the desk asks to be let out of the dome and she and the other scientist are sat together with Truth holding guns to them. The timer continues.
Blitz blasts through into the next room and comes face to face with four Viper agents and a tall well built Aryan man (Eisenwolf). Eisenwolf says "leave now, or when the Reich reforms you and your colleagues will be used to test the limits of human endurance of pain." The four agents and Eisenwolf open fire, Blitz is ok but Noesis is hit. Blitz launches an attack but has little effect. Noesis flees into the corridor and shouts "Supervillian - HELP!!".
Back in the lab, the timer reaches zero and the purple glow covers the canister then fades. Truth asks the woman if that's it, she says it is, she doesn't know of any other canisters. Truth then goes and checks the other rooms in the area, they are all empty but she sees Servo trying to open the airlock. Truth passes through the airlock and tells Servo everything is OK, Servo says he is going to assist Blitz and Noesis because he hears Noesis calling.
Avenger and Naomi arrive, both are injured but continue fighting, they go to assist Blitz together with Servo and Cronos.
Back in the bosses area the Viper agents shield Eisenwolf, he opens a concealed hatch in the wall and disappears into it, Blitz blasts the wall but is then hit by the Viper agents and falls unconscious.
Back in the lab John Doe finds a file of papers in the desk drawer which gives details about the plague (the virus is named OMEGA-2), its means of transmission (every known vector), and that it is totally resistant to chemicals and can only be destroyed by prolonged temperatures over 2000 degrees. Each Omega-2 virus has a different protein coat and many different ways to defeat the immune system. As far as Viper know it is 100% contagious, 100% fatal, and affects all animals with brains as or more complex than a dog. It causes fever, delirium, brain damage and death within a day. The papers seem to have been left specifically in case the base is captured by authorities, to stop the plague being released accidentally.
Avenger, Naomi, Cronos and Servo enter the bosses room and find Blitz unconscious. Cronos heals him and he tells them that Eisenwolf disappeared into a hatch. Eventually the hatch is found and opened. Blitz, Cronos, Noesis and Servo follow the tunnel down. Avenger and Naomi assist STOP to clean up the base. Cronos rushes on ahead and thinking he hears voices ahead ploughs on into the sewer the wrong way. Now that things are a bit calmer, Blitz suddenly remembers he suffers from claustrophobia and exits the sewer by the nearest manhole, narrowly avoiding being run over as he bursts forth. The others return to the base.
Truth opens the airlocks for the STOP agents to take away the Viper agents and the scientific experts enter in contamination suits to examine the virus. Noesis goes to advise his scientist colleagues about the virus. Blitz meets up with Noesis on the surface. Noesis phones Dr Joseph No and gives him all the virus details, Dr No intends to contact STOP about assisting them.
Truth suggests going to Canary Wharf and examining it. The STOP man in charge (D.I. Dickinson) asks if Truth can try tracking Eisenwolf first. Truth goes into the sewer and follows the scents for some distance until they are covered by stink bombs and are lost.
The STOP scientists decide that the canister is safe and John Doe removes his dome. John Doe notices that some of the scientists are very fascinated by him but they refrain from asking for samples.
Everyone meets up, Naomi is looking very happy, she says she can feel that the present version of herself starting to never have existed, she hugs Cronos and then says she has to say goodbye to someone else, says goodbye to us all and vanishes.
D.I. Dickinson asks the Knights to give statements to STOP at some point...
