John Doe signs on with STOP and gets up to date with the past 50 years. He then goes out and buys himself a watch that plays annoying tunes. (At least he makes good use of the money Blitz gave him).
Servo puts his armour back together.
That evening at the Swan and Parrot around 6.30 pm.
Everyone assembles at the pub, we get lots of funny looks and lose the landlord trade by scaring away people. We talk about what to do. The waif like girl appears, focuses on Chronos, steps forward, says "Please..." then a journalist takes a photo, the girl looks surprised/scared, and vanishes. The journalist who took the picture gets beaten up by Avenger for his trouble and his camera smashed. A second photographer just gets his camera taken by Avenger. Noesis gives Avenger a headache in return, followed by a long speech on morals blah, blah, blah. Blitz joins in, more blah, blah. We are also recorded by a TV camera crew, which Chronos hassles, they seem to be doing some kind of live broadcast.
Truth gets bored first and goes off to the alley were the Viper agents were seen fleeing into, she is hoping to be able to trace their scents. Servo and John Doe soon follow. Eventually Noesis and Blitz fly off, and Avenger and Cronos take the tube. On the way to the tube Avenger takes the picture chip out of the camera he has, and throws the camera away. En route Blitz and Noesis are buzzed by 2 UFO's.
Servo and John Doe reach the alley first and start searching, Truth arrives soon after. In the alley the scent is lost because so many people have passed through it, however there are two homeless men there. Servo tries speaking to them but they are reluctant to talk. Truth has better luck, she knows them from working at the Salvation Army Mission and they tell her that Dick saw something. Truth knows Dick as he is one of the long term homeless, he went missing about two months ago, along with a few others, and she hasn't seen him since. They tell Truth that Dick will be at Blackfriars Bridge tonight. As Truth finishes talking to the homeless men, Avenger and Cronos arrive. Avenger says "Hello" to one of the men, he recognises him and says "Hello Keith" then realises he is Avenger and does a runner.
Truth does manage to trace the Viper scents into the next road, where they disappear. We notice that the security cameras in this street have been recently cut and replaced. Servo and John Doe talk to the security guard in the building with the security cameras and are allowed to look at the videos before the cables were cut. The others go to Blackfriars Bridge to find Dick.
Servo and John Doe review all the video footage and notice that a passer by in the street did see something near the camera as it was cut. They also discover that the cables were melted by some sort of blaster and that the shot came from slightly above the rooftop. After this they make their way to Blackfriars Bridge to join the others. As they go John Doe tells Servo that he was the garden shed which vanished in Teddington; he had been sleeping in that form for the last 50 years or so. He doesn't know why he did it, but has the impression that he has done it many times in the past, and that he is very old.
Meanwhile at Blackfriars Bridge Truth has convinced the others to let her go alone to talk to Dick in case the others frighten the homeless. Truth goes and changes into her Salvation army outfit and moves among the homeless handing out food parcels. She finds Dick sitting away from the fires and talks to him, she notices that he has a strange fungal smell, separate from the normal human scent, and that his eyes are black with no whites. Noesis tries reading surface thoughts and gets feelings of calm and tranquillity. Cronos tries nipping down to see what Truth really looks like but she is bundled up with hat, coat and scarf and is in the shadow of the bridge so cannot really be seen. Truth uses her mind control on Dick to ask him what has happened to him in the past two months. He tells her that he was very ill, dying, when he met this woman at a tube station, she said she would make him better. She took him to a graveyard, after that he remembers very little, except sleeping, and seeing a few of the other missing homeless. He returned about two weeks ago and now feels much better. Truth notices that Dick's skin feels strange, fungus like and it is unnaturally cold. He tells her the woman had white skin, long grey hair and wore normal clothes and parts of a wedding dress, she was pretty and about Truth's age, she also had totally black eyes. Truth then asks Dick about the Viper agents, he tells her that he saw them getting into a bright blue van with yellow writing which said "Techniphone". Truth gives Dick a food parcel and tells him to come to the Mission if he needs anything. She then returns to the others on the bridge.
Everyone meets up again at the bridge, Truth tells them all the information that Dick told her, John Doe goes and looks at Dick and his fungus skin, he also notices that the human and fungus seem to be two entities. Cronos rushes to a nearby phone box and gets Techniphones address as King George Close, Romford. The majority of the group decide to go to STOP HQ to tell the police about the van and about Dick's skin and to see if any other information has been found. Cronos and Avenger decide to go to Romford to check out Techniphone in person. John Doe turns into a Pegasus to carry Truth and others also fly to STOP HQ, on the way the group are surrounded by a cloud as tiny UFO's, the cloud buzzes around them avoiding any attempts to grab them and then coalesces and shoots off towards the river.
Eventually the group reach STOP HQ, they inform the sergeant there (Nick Courtould) about the van from Techniphone. There is no report of a van being stolen. Techniphone a mobile phone company, they supply to various retailers and build relay towers, their main address is the Romford base. Servo reviews all the security camera videos gathered from surrounding streets and the van is spotted and its number plate is checked - it is a registered maintenance and delivery van for Techniphone. STOP also tells us that the supply notes from the crates we found in the robots base have been taken away he's not allowed to say by who. Noesis reads in Courtould's mind that they were taken by the "Men in Black" from SI-12 who he doesn't seem to like very much and they have been told to discontinue the investigation. Truth then tells STOP about Dick and the fungus, they will investigate in case it is a contagious disease. We are all reminded yet again to try and restrain Avenger's more violent behaviour i.e. beating up passing journalists. We also find out that the Viper submarine got away, they had some sort of sonic blaster which destroyed the military helicopters sonar and torpedoes. After this we decide to join Cronos and Avenger in Romford.
Meanwhile, Cronos and Avenger have taken a taxi to Romford (Cronos appears to be taking things easy today and not rushing about on his own). Cronos pays for the taxi (thirty two pounds fifty plus tip) he gets a receipt hoping to claim it as expenses. The Techniphone warehouse appears normal and has three security guards. Avenger asks for a list of their vans and whilst he distracts the guard, Cronos gets into the warehouse. By this time he can hear a jet engine starting up in the back of the warehouse. Inside the warehouse there are masses of crates. As Cronos makes his way through the crates he trips on a trip wire and sets off a sonic cannon. Outside the sonic cannon is heard and the guard turns to run but is gunned down by Avenger, in turn Avenger is gunned down by the other guards, but not before he manages to press his alarm to the others.
The others are now nearing Romford, they are all flying and Truth is carried by John Doe now in the form of a black stealth dragon with a seat. As they approach the warehouse they get the alarm signal from Avenger and they see that the roof is rolling back and light is showing from inside and jet noises can be heard.
Avenger recovers quickly and blasts a hole in the side of the warehouse and runs in. Cronos recovers and turns the next corner only to be hit by another sonic cannon, and collapses. At about this point he realises the passageway through the crates seems nicely set up as a kill-zone. Avenger tries firing through the crates to get to the area of the jet noises but he is stunned by yet another sonic cannon.
The others are now nearing the warehouse and they see an aircraft lifting slowly from the building, the body of the plane is the size of a double Decker bus and it has stubby wings, it looks a bit like a giant Harrier jump jet.
