DATE : 4th September 1996

Ignoring the message that supervillains are attacking the Lubyanka, Molinya, Napalm and General Winter arrive at the Olympic Penta Hotel. Napalm hovers to avoid incinerating the plush carpet. They are greeted by the hotel manager, a German named Gunter (the hotel is owned by a German corporation). Molinya explains to him that we are interested in finding out about the person who received a phone call from Lt Bodonova at the Botanical Garden Street police station. He is reluctant until Napalm starts to scorch the ceiling and Molinya explains about her being in custody and how unstable she is. Gunter then leads the three to the switchboard in the (vain) hope that Napalm will be kept under control. After a little while, the switchboard operator gives us the room number 608 as the destination of the call. That's on the top floor, a big suite of rooms, and is booked by a Mr Starukha and party.

General Winter goes straight to the room while Molinya and Napalm get Gunter to give them the name(s) of the occupants of the room stored on the hotel computer. Molinya grits her teeth at the opulence and lavish appointments of the hotel.

Meanwhile, across the city another of the Heros, a shapeshifter named Mirov arrives in the form of a pigeon after having been out of the city for a while on superhero business. He phones police headquarters for an update. He is told about the attack on the Lubyanka.

Molinya is contacted by the police who confirm that there is an attack at the Lubyanka. They want to know where the heros are. Mirov is sent on ahead and the others will meet him there.

Mirov reaches the Lubyanka, a large building rising in tiers of caramel and toffee coloured stucco from a stone-faced lower story, across a square from Moscow's largest toy shop. He is still in pigeon form. Smoke is rising from the back of the building and, flying around, Mirov sees that there is a large hole in the side of the building. It doesn't seem to have been made by explosive, but instead the wall seems to have been shattered somehow. He can also smell chemicals - as per the previous building the supervillains attacked. The pigeon acquires a gas mask.

Baba Yaga lands on the roof of the hotel in her pestle and mortar. Akula and Mother Bear get out. They enter the hotel and head for the sixth floor (which happens to be the top floor).

General Winter reaches the sixth floor; there only seem to be eight rooms up here, presumably big penthouse suites. He goes up to the door of room 608 and knocks. The door is answered by a thug in a smart suit. General Winter tells him that he wishes to speak to Mr Starukha (the name obtained from the computer by Molinya and Napalm). Soon everyone else arrives at the door.

The thug goes to speak to his boss. He tries to close the door, but with little success. All the heros pile into the room after him. Akula trickles along the floor, trying to be subtle as a pool of water. Mr Starukha himself is in the large living room, sitting on a sofa. A beautiful young woman is sitting by him, and another thug is standing close by. Napalm, 'chased' by Molinya, zooms around the room, then burns through the doors to the adjoining rooms to investigate what is in them. There are four bedrooms, one of which contains lots of women's clothing, another obviously belongs to the thugs, and in the last she finds a briefcase. It's locked, but Molinya tears open the lock revealing a highly advanced laptop computer inside.

Mother Bear on entering the room sees that the man's girlfriend is actually one of her daughters, Raisa, aged 20, who she thought was working as a hostess in the 'Hot Tamale' club. She grabs Raisa (who screams and makes a great commotion) and carries her out of the room.

In the bedroom, the laptop case is shut and Napalm flies off with the computer inside it. She goes through the window, delivers the computer to Baba Yaga for safe keeping and continues on to meet Mirov. Molinya follows her. General Winter explains that Napalm is in the custody of Molinya and that she is out of control. Mr Starukha demands the return of his computer, with very little effect.

The Mr Starukha, who has remained surprisingly calm through all this, phones his lawyer and says he is being harassed by superheroes, they have stolen his computer, kidnapped his girlfriend/secretary and damaged the hotel room. He offers the party a drink, but Napalm has already gone.

Mother Bear carries Raisa down in the lift (which creaks under her weight), out of the hotel, and down the street outside. Raisa screams and shouts for help from everyone around but no-one seems interested in tackling the bear. A police car does stop to see what is going on, but Mother Bear convinces them to give her a lift to the edge of their patrol area (a few blocks away), which they do. From there, she gets a taxi back to the vicinity of the apartment block where she lives.

At the Lubyanka, Mirov, now in the form of a small fly, comes upon a scene as per the archives building. The villains seem to have burst in, poisoned everyone, shot the guards, and made their way to an archive in the centre of the building - a large room with ranks of filing cabinets. As before, the supervillains have stolen a large amount of papers and poured petrol over much of the rest left behind. Mirov comes upon the villains as they are leaving. They are travelling by black flying carpet and have a couple of thugs with them. As they zip out of the door, WarWolf fires back, setting light to the petrol. Mirov quickly puts out the flames by turning part of himself into a fire extinguisher as the villains flee the area.

Back at the hotel General Winter phones Captain Ostranko and asks for a search warrant. Akula sits in the carpet as a large puddle and Mr Starukha drops ash from his cigarette into him while pretending not to notice that Akula is there.

Molinya and Napalm arrive at the Lubyanka and head through the large hole in the side of the building to find the supervillains.

Mirov catches up with the villains, turns into a bluebottle with a scalpel blade and starts to cut through the bottom of one of the bags of papers the thugs accompanying the villains are carrying. The villains, on their flying carpet, proceed down a lift shaft on the opposite side of the Lubyanka to their entry point, to an underground car park.

The bag Mirov was cutting splits, but the thug carrying it manages to catch most of the papers. Mirov starts on the next bag. Mirov hears the man with the glasses say some words he doesn't understand, and Mirov starts to get a very bad headache. Then the bag is dropped on him.

Mirov climbs into the bag, then tries to exit the bag subtly, but is pulled out by WarWolf (the man with the guns). Mirov tries to fly up the barrel of WarWolf's pistol, but WarWolf is too fast, and fires. Mirov is hit by a bullet as the other end of him is stunned by Black Dog (the man with black lightning powers). The insect-woman also starts to emit her hideous ear-shattering screeching buzz, too.

Molinya and Napalm start to close on the villains. Molinya calls to the others at the hotel to assist them.

Mirov feels ill and his health is not improved by the armoured chemical woman grabbing hold of him and starting to seep chemicals into his body. He is then dropped from the carpet.

Molinya and Napalm find a few sheets of paper dropped by the villains which Molinya picks up as she goes. Just as the villains fly through the doors into the car park, they get within sight of the villains and the insect-woman blasts the roof. Rubble blocks the corridor. Molinya passes through it in lightning form, and Napalm burns through it. Molinya picks up large lumps of rock and throws them at the group on the carpet, but the bug woman uses a sonic blast to shatter it. Mirov recovers somewhat and seeps through the rubble to continue the pursuit in the form of a bird.

Mother Bear eventually finds a quiet spot close by the apartment block where she lives, and tells her daughter to go home and not to return to the hotel. Raisa leaves. Mother Bear turns back into her human form and goes to her daughters home.

Akula leaves the hotel room and goes to the roof. He persuades Baba Yaga to take him to the Lubyanka. On the way, he plays with the laptop computer but is unable to get past the password protection. General Winter sits in the hotel waiting for the warrant.

In the Lubyanka car park, the villains carpet zips up the exit ramp and into the street outside. Molinya zaps to close by and throws a car at the carpet. She hits the carpet, but the car only rolls off, though the carpet slows a little. Leaping for the carpet, Molinya grabs at the thug with the bag of papers and the thug is thrown into a nearby wall and dies with a nasty crunching splat noise. The bag of papers he was carrying falls to the ground, and Molinya turns back into human form (as she can't pick things up in lightning form without zapping them) grabs the bag and runs back into the garage. As she runs, Warwolf shoots her several times in the back, doing some serious injury.

Napalm and Mirov pursue the carpet as it zips down the street. The insect woman continues to emit her horrendous screaming buzz, which in addition to not doing Napalm and Mirov and good at all, shatters all the nearby windows, causing a lot of broken glass to tumble into the street. Napalm fires on the carpet from underneath, but the carpet is unaffected by fire and the bug woman dodges all her attacks (Napalm does manage to blast a number of people as the blasts miss the bug and hit the nearby buildings and go through windows broken by the bug woman's sonic blasts). The combination of the bug-woman's sonic attacks, the chemicals of the armoured woman, WarWolf's gunfire and the man with the glasses giving them headaches eventually causes Napalm and Mirov fall to the ground and the villains escape, zipping round a corner out of sight.

Soon after, the police arrive as do Akula and Baba Yaga, and a number of ambulances and fire engines. Leaning against the wall of the ramp to the Lubyanka car park, Molinya reads some of the papers she captured and finds that they are old NKVD/KGB records from the area North of Moscow (from Moscow to St. Petersberg and Archangel). They concern the spies and dissidents from the years 1944-1945.

Baba Yaga gives her magic healing potion to all that need it. She also uses her pestle and mortar to generate a fog to 'get rid of all this bad air'. When Mirov meets her for the first time, not to be out-done, he turns into a hag even more hideous than her.

As the police clear up, everyone decides to return to the hotel.

Captain Ostranko phones General Winter and tells him that there will be no warrant; pressure has been applied from above - Ostranko sounds disgusted by this. General Winter says he will come down to the police station to talk to him. He leaves the hotel, and soon after receives a call from Akula telling him what has happened at the Lubyanka, and that the others are going back to the hotel now.

Molinya and Napalm arrive back at the Olympic Penta Hotel and find that Mr Starukha has gone, although all his stuff, and that of his 'associates' is still there in the suite. They fly down to the hotel parking garage, but he is not there and a man heading for his luxury foreign car nearby (another guest at the hotel, by his car and style of dress) says he has not seen him. Molinya phones police HQ and gets the licence numbers and descriptions of the vehicles belonging to Mr Starukha, but none of the vehicles in the garage fit the description.

Mother Bear in her human form arrives at her daughter's home and quizzes her about her involvement with Mr Starukha. They argue and Raisa does not seem to be convinced that her mother is right. Mother Bear uses lots of emotional blackmail and reasoned argument; neither really seem to work. Molinya and Napalm try to contact Mother Bear to ask her about the woman she kidnapped and to ask if she knows anything about where the man might have gone, but Mother Bear ignores their calls to her pager. She disowns Raisa, claiming that she is no longer her daughter. Eventually Mother Bear leaves her daughter's home with no success, and in tears. She soon after returns in bear form and terrifies Raisa once more, to try to persuade her not to return to the man.

Molinya and Napalm are frustrated after their unsuccessful attempts to find Mr Starukha, so steal all the clothes from his room (to sell for cash) and then go and trash a number of mafioski drug houses and illegal drinking dens which they know of, in assorted basements and the like about the city. They take all the money found, burn all the drugs and hand most of the thugs and guns over to the police; no-one dies, but a few thugs are injured, and some bystanders (who happened to be in the places they raid) are shot in the crossfire.

A few of the thugs are released with the message that they are after WarWolf. Eventually they return to Molinya's flat and get some food and vodka. After Napalm passes out Molinya leaves the building and hides the cash to avoid Napalm using it to feed her alcoholism. A sensible precaution.

Akula takes the computer to the university and in the computer lab finds a student named Egor Subich, who agrees to hack into the computer and give them all the information on it in return for which he gets to keep the computer afterwards. Akula then goes home.

Mother Bear returns home and tells her husband what has happened. He goes to talk to their daughter.

Overnight a firebomb is set off at the front door of Molinya's flat. However, Molinya wakes up and drags the unconscious (drunk!) body of Napalm from the flat. The fire rages for some time, gutting the flat and the flats of the neighbours.
