AXIS WORLD CHAMPIONS

Home   Up   Site Map

An Earth where superhumans appeared for the first time in the mid-1930's, accompanied by a (return?) of what seem to be magical powers. Unfortunately, most superhumans were not all black-hearted villains or clean-cut heroes. Most were just average people who thought their powers made them above the law, or capable of getting things they thought they deserved. In most nations society has begun to crumble under the onslaught of essentially unstoppable superhuman activity.

Only Nazi Germany, and to a lesser extent Imperial Japan, have escaped this social unrest due to an apparent increased willingness among their native superhumans to work for the government, and stop other superhumans rampaging within the country. Now Germany, under Hermann Goering, rules most of Europe.

The only nation which could seriously challenge the might of the Axis, the USA, sinks deeper into self-imposed isolationism as racial tensions (fueled by superhumans on both sides, intentionally and simply by their activities) and an influx of foreign superhumans seeking new lives in the land of opportunity drives north America closer and closer to chaos, while the Axis consolidates its stranglehold on much of the rest of the world, and prepares to take the remainder.

Hope seems dead, but a few still dream of a return to freedom and sanity for the world...

Not a pleasant setting, Axis World was vaguely inspired by the Golden Age Champions supplement.

It is not a setting I feel I will ever use in a game, as I am unsure I would be able to keep up the appropriately serious tone I feel it would require.

Still, I feel it is a worthwhile background, and so here it is...

NOTE : This set of web pages should not be construed as supporting Nazism or its views in any way. Quite the reverse in fact. It is my opinion that only by recognising the evil that was Nazism, and remaining vigilant against it, can we make sure that it never occurs again.

These pages are a work of fiction which uses my understanding of real history as its basis, but which diverges from it in many major ways. At least part of the inspiration behind them is the fact that Nazis do, after all, make excellent villains. They are not intended to deliberately offend anyone, or to trivialise the events on which it is based, nor should they be taken as any form of commentary on the real events from which it is derived; if anyone has read this page as such, then I apologise.
